This month, we have been focusing on being responsible for our learning. This morning, we announced that we met our goal of staying under 10 referrals related to this focus area. To celebrate, we will enjoy a candy cart next Friday!

In February, we will switch gears and focus on being kind and respectful to others. If we can stay under 10 referrals in this category, we will celebrate with a popcorn party at the end of the month.

Today will be eLearning Day #3 as we dig out from this snow event. Please complete today's assignments and reach out to your child's teacher via Rooms or email between 9:00 - 2:00 with any questions.

When we return to school, parent drop off in the morning needs to be on School Street or through our main parking lot by the office. All students will enter through the main student entrance like always. The church parking lot has piles of snow blocking students from crossing the street. Thanks for your support. - Dr. Webb

Parents - Thanks for your support during this severe weather event and Day #2 of eLearning. Our plan remains the same as yesterday. Teachers will communicate assignment details and be available via Rooms and email from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. With slightly warmer temperatures today, I'm confident there will be time to get out and PLAY!

Due to the severe weather, today will be an E-Learning Day.

Teachers will be sending additional information via Rooms regarding today's ELA, Math, Music, and PE activities. Since today counts as a school day and we will not make up this time, the expectation is for students to complete the assigned activities to the best of their ability. Staff is available between 9:00 am - 2:00 pm via Rooms or email to answer any questions you may have. This plan will be the same for each E-Learning Day during this severe weather event.

Stay safe and have fun! -- Dr. Webb

Sayha Amarasuriya's mission patch was chosen for the 2026 Challenger Mission Holiday Postcard. These postcards are sent all over the country, including the White House. On Friday, representatives came to CIS and presented Sayha with a framed copy of her postcard. Sayha's mission patch was entered during her fifth-grade field trip to the Challenger Learning Center at Western Kentucky Community and Technical College last year.

CIS sent grade level teams to the ROE Brain Games event held at John A. Logan College this week. This event required students to problem-solve and work collaboratively on Fantasy Fiction themed challenges. Our fourth and sixth grade teams brought home medals and advanced to the next round at Rend Lake College. Great job!

This morning, we kicked off PBIS Quarter 3 with schoolwide goals focused on responsibility and kindness!

During the first four weeks, students will focus on being responsible for their learning, with a goal of reducing referrals such as being unprepared or off task. Meeting this goal earns students a sweet treat from the candy cart.

In the second half of the quarter, the focus shifts to being responsible for our words and actions. We are committed to choosing kindness, with a popcorn party as the reward for meeting our goal.

If our entire school stays under 120 office referrals for the quarter, students will celebrate with a dodgeball tournament and a concession stand.

We visualized responsibility with a fun activity. Participants were given a pizza box to represent their "responsibilities." Their goal was to keep their responsibilities safe in the air, even when distractions (other participants) tried to knock them down.

As we count down to Winter Break, we’ve teamed up with Tri-C to plan a series of holiday-themed spirit days that students may choose to participate in. This is not a fundraiser, but just a fun opportunity to spread some cheer as we wrap up Quarter 2!
