Thank you to the CJHS community, parents and guardians, and students for attending our 7th Grade and New Student Orientation today! We had a great turnout! We hope it helped ease our incoming students’ minds and helped give the parents and guardians an idea of what to expect. We are looking forward to a great year, and we can’t wait to see everyone Thursday!

1. High school tryouts/seasons will officially start over the next week. Please make sure you are registered at SNAP (formerly 8to18) and you have a current physical on file. You will NOT be able to participate on the first day of practices if these items are not completed.

2. Save the Date!! Our annual Meet the Lions event will be on August 15, starting at 5 pm. Team introductions will begin at 7 pm. A more detailed schedule of events is coming soon.
Our teams have been working hard this summer and the 2026-2027 seasons should be a good one.

We are down to our final team of the 2025-2026 school year. Good luck to our softball team as they try for their third consecutive trip to the state finals!
The girls will play for the chance to go to state on Monday night at 7 pm on the campus of SIUC. We will have a community tailgate outside of the stadium by the left field fence, starting at 5 pm. Free hot dogs, chips and water while supplies last!

Carterville Junior High School had a great day with our 2nd Annual Career Speaker Series! We appreciate all of the professionals who came to share their knowledge with our students.

Congratulations to the CJHS boys and girls golf teams. Yesterday, the girls finished 1st and brought home the Regional Championship, and the boys finished 2nd. More than 15 schools competed in the Regional. Individually, Layla Erwin finished 2nd out of over 40 players.
Both teams will compete at state next week. Congratulations to both teams for an excellent performance!
