Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home salutes CHS Student of the Year, Madison Morse, a Senior, with a check for $500. This scholarship is awarded in memory of Jack Burke, long time educator at Waterloo High School, and Jean Burke, head Librarian at Waterloo Public Library, by their son, Michael “Junior” Burke, owner of Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home. Both Jack and Jean had a great love of education, and we want to continue their legacy of inspiring students.
Madison is the daughter of Matt and Amy Morse and was also the recipient of the October Student of the Month Award for her outstanding attitude and disposition, nominated by CHS teacher, Mr. Coleman. In her nomination, Mr. Coleman highlighted Madison’s unwavering positivity, noting that she has been a ray of sunshine in the CHS hallways throughout all four years of high school. This year, as in years past, Madison has continued to meet challenges head-on—with a smile—and her encouraging spirit lifts everyone around her. Madison is a high honor student, proud member of the National Honor Society, and actively participates in the fall play and student council. Madison will be graduating in May and continues to set an example for her peers through both her academic excellence and her genuine kindness. Madison is truly a rock star and a student worth celebrating. She plans to attend John A. Logan College in the fall and later transfer to a university to pursue a degree in social work.
Congratulations, Madison Morse, CHS Student of the Year! A huge thank you to Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home for the support and kindness they extend to our CHS students!
Congratulations to Anne Popit for being chosen as the 2024 Fall Semester LEAD Class MVG!
So far in LEAD class this semester we verified ✅ 42 of the 90 freshmen that took part in the class with one Verification left. Verifications were based on living out our Green Standards (consistency, kindness, respect, and enthusiasm). Anne lives these out regularly inside and outside of the classroom and her classmates took notice. She will be entered into the Lead Em Up National Green 13 competition, this spring where she could win free Chick-Fil-A for a year!
Congrats Anne! We are proud of you!
