ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL'S PAGE

This is Mrs. Prather's second year at Carterville Junior High School as an assistant principal. She thoroughly enjoyed her first year as a Carterville Lion and she is excited to bring on the second!

After graduation from Chester High School, she attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale to obtain a degree in photography. However, plans and desires changed and she transitioned into education. Upon graduation in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in English Education, she moved to Decatur, Illinois where she taught one year of honors classes at MacArthur High School. She then transferred to Du Quoin Middle School where she spent twelve years dedicating her time to the 8th grade classroom, volleyball, yearbook, and many other activities.

Mrs. Prather obtained a master's degree in Reading and Language Studies in 2014 from SIU-C. Finally, she received the Illinois Principals Association Grant for administration in 2022, which led her to her final degree of Specialist in Educational Administration from SIU-E before coming to CJHS.

Mrs. Prather is excited to be a member of the Carterville community and the CJHS family.
