Students in Mrs. Blumenstock’s Parenting class hosted a baby shower to celebrate the first round of students taking home the "RealCare" baby simulators for the weekend. After learning about infant care and responsibility in class, these students are ready to put their skills to the test!
Carterville CUSD No. 5 will be on Fall Break October 12-16. We hope our students, families, and staff enjoy a relaxing week filled with a little fun, plenty of fall weather, and maybe a pumpkin or two!

CHS sent two teams to the ROE #21 Brain Games at JALC! Congratulations to our juniors, who took 2nd place, and our seniors, who placed 3rd. Both teams advance to the next round—great job, Lions!
Join us tomorrow for Football Friday! Show your school spirit by wearing Pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, or wear your favorite Carterville gear. Randomly selected students and staff caught showing their school spirit will win a prize!

Keeping children safe takes all of us.
Earlier this month, every Carterville CUSD #5 employee participated in training focused on sexual abuse awareness, prevention, and recognizing the warning signs of grooming. We followed that training with a presentation open to parents and our broader community.
Since then, several families have asked about the training and the information that was shared. We thought others in our community might benefit from hearing more about it as well.
One of the most important messages was this: children should have positive relationships with caring adults — while also knowing how to recognize inappropriate boundaries, secrecy, isolation, and other warning signs, and knowing that it's always okay to speak up.
Our work will continue as we strengthen age-appropriate education for students and provide families with information and resources to help keep children safe.

Congratulations to our National Merit Scholarship Commended Students for being recognized for their outstanding scholastic talent! The National Merit Scholarship Corporation awards this honor to students scoring in the top 3–4% nationwide on the PSAT/NMSQT.
