Open House/Parent Orientation

CJHS will have an Open House on Tuesday, August 14th from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.  This is a chance to have a quick meet/greet with your student's teachers.  Prior to 7:00 p.m., there will be an orientation for any new parents or parents of 7th graders from 6:15 - 7:00 p.m. in the gymnasium.  This is simply a chance to share a few things with you that may or will be different now that your student is entering junior high.  Attendance to either of these events is not mandatory.

Proof of Residency Requirements

If your student was a 6th grader and you did not submit proof of residency to CIS before the 2017-2018 school year ended, you are required to do so before school starts on August 14th.  You should submit your proof to the CJHS office as your student is now a 7th grader.  Proof of residency can be submitted in person, scanned and sent via email (cpuckett@cartervilleschools.org), or take a picture of the document and send via email to cpuckett@cartervilleschools.org.

Instructions for Setting Up Your Binder

Work Hard Wednesday (Student Early Release Days)

In order for CJHS to assist struggling learners and conduct PLC meetings we are utilizing an early release day. A late arrival or early release model is very common among schools in which students switch classes during the day and have teachers who coach or sponsor activities after school.  Our high school uses it as well.  CJHS will be offering tutoring/support for students that need it for academics as well as behavior issues.  Students not needing these supports at the time will be allowed to leave school early if they are able.  However, for those who are unable to accommodate the early release because of work, transportation, etc., we will still be able to safely monitor your student until normal dismissal time.

Students that are eligible on these 16 dates will be able to leave school 1 hour early or 1:59 p.m.  Buses will NOT be running then.  They will run their normal routes at their normal times.  Again, if you are unable or uncomfortable with your student being dismissed early, he or she can stay at CJHS until the regular dismissal time.  Click the blue link to see the 16 dates for the school-year.
